VSU biologists develop the first ecosystem health scorecard in the Visayas
Assessing and monitoring the status of our freshwater ecosystems, such as lakes and rivers, is often overlooked and underrated. To address this behavioral gap and hopefully establish a model scheme for conserving and protecting these ecosystems, a group of researchers from the VSU Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) led by Dr. Analyn Mazo, implemented a three-year project on the development of a Tropical Ecosystem Health (TrEcH) Scorecard for the Pagbanganan River, one of the largest river systems here in Baybay City, Leyte.
#GoingGlobal: AnSci faculty joins bioinformatics training in Thailand
Cyrill John Godinez, Ph.D. faculty-researcher of the VSU Department of Animal Science (DAS) is the lone #ProudViscan who attended the international training on bioinformatics in Thailand which is a modern tool to collect and analyze whole genome sequencing data (WGS) or the complete genetic make-up of plants and animals.
VSU VetMed program remains fully compliant to CHED and PRC standards
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Validation team found that VSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine remains compliant with the policies, standards, and guidelines for the offering of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program in the university.
